Hi, I'm Mike Garland. I am a guy who enjoys his work and the people he works with, and am an award-winning UX researcher (read our submission here) who loves to incorporate his passion for user-centered design, development, and strategy skills to produce high quality and unique solutions.
I am a 2016 graduate of the Elon University M.A. in Interactive Media program, and a 2015 graduate of Elon University in Strategic Communication with a minor in Exercise Science. I am focusing on the UX/UI design and web-development divisions of the interactive media field, but my additional experience in content strategy, social media, and photo/video editing diversify my skillset.
My initial interest in User Experience came from my internship at Shark-Ninja, where I was lucky enough to sit in on web-design meetings where the launches of new product landing pages were being discussed. Since then, I have worked on a wide variety of projects ranging from researching the online purchasing experiences of major tech companies, to working on non-profit websites, to application design/development.
While I focus primarily on experience and development, but you will often find me in the gym, enjoying the outdoors, on the golf course, or on the soccer field. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in my work, and let's meet for coffee.

Elon University, B.A. Strategic Communications and Minor in Exercise Science
Strategic Communications enlightened me on topics ranging from PR and advertising, to strategic campaigns, to media law. The wide range of topics covered exposed me to different fields, pushing me to pinpoint a career path: Interactive Media. All the while, I was pushing for a minor (out of pure interest) in Exercise Science.
